The main charcter was an older, high school age teen, he was called "bear".
But I believe the title "name" was three or four syllables.
It was a "california"/"van nuys blvd" cruising movie I believe.
I think it had some sort of gang theme. Or typical a**hole teen testosterone "football-build" males being bullies.
Had a girl trying to be a hero-ish to stop the bullies, and the main character was a "new kid in town".
I think it was a TV-movie, that never went to theatres, aired evening, not afternoon.
Might have been ABC-TV Oct-Dec '79.
Possibly 1st week Jan '80. Or just before semester change.
I remember it was on just as I changed schools.
